DARBOURZE
ROLLIN J. (MSGR.)
Pastor
Born in 1938, Rollin J. Darbouze was an energetic and passionate
young boy growing up in his native city of Port-Salut, a coastal
town in the Southwest of Haiti. He attended St Joseph primary
school there.
He began studying for priesthood at St.
Jean l’Evangeliste in Camp-Perrin then moved later
to Université Notre Dame Seminary in Port-au-Prince. Four (4) years later, he left Haiti (because
the Major Secretary was close) to continue his priesthood
study in Canada. He was ordained in 1969 after completing
his studies at St. Joseph Seminary He served in the Diocese
of Nicolette (Canada) as a parish priest at l' Eglise
St. Jean Deshaillons for five months.
The same year,
he moved to New York, in the Diocese of Brooklyn at the request
of the Haitian Episcopal Conference to work with the growing
haitian community where he first served at St Gregory the
Great Church. Msgr. Darbouze played a pivotal role in the
development of many Haitian solidarity movement. Transfered
to St Matthew Church, he ministered there for fifteen (15)
years as an enthusiastic participant in the community.
He
was the Holy Cross Church Pastor for twelve (12) years then
served as Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Refuge for two (2)
years. He is currently the Pastor of Holy Innocents Church.
One of the main focus of Msgr. Darbouze for Holy Innocents
is to have all the repairs in the Church done before he retire. |
